As we know, we share this beautiful green earth with millions and millions of other organisms. Than why are we acting as if we are the only ones that live on this planet. We may be the superior race but does superiority title us as " we do what we want" attitude. If we continue on this pathway and ignore the elephant in the room ( the increasing rate of the population) , we might as well pack our bags and secure not only our fate but the many other that will come after we have perished.
In order to preserve our race, we are destroying others. Over the past hundred years many species are being reported as endangered or extinct and this number will continue to increase as long as the population continues to increase at this rate. The effect of an increase in population are; natural resources are being depleted, habitats are being destroyed, deforestation, and climate change. To counteract this problem we are removing species from habitat to habitat and basically trying to manage our way out of this problem. An analogy would be a person aging rapidly with lots of stress and the only way to get the years back is by artificial or plastic surgery.
We have to start soon, maybe even today, at this very moment. One person can create that domino effect that will start this process of recovery mode. It isn't impossible because we have proven to ourselves as a human race that we are resilient. Any obstacle that has came our way, we have managed to overcome them. So why can't we overcome this! We shall overcome this by trust, belief, and the unity of the entire human race around the world. World Peace!
I see your enthusiasm! Haha. Nice passion in these sentences, but make a quick note that this is for a somewhat academic audience, you should include more numbers.
ReplyDeleteExample, first paragraph, talk about actual numbers on population density. Third paragraph give numbers or examples of species which have died out as a result of human overcrowding. Fourth paragraph, proposed solutions regarding policy, economics, or behavioral changes (like, what's the correlation between GDP and average children per family?).
I see you're interested in India as a case study for population growth. I think you should look up some good primary literature on population growth in India, and be sure to make the point of what ecological impacts human population growth is having.
